4.5 weeks pregnant

24/10/2014 10.30AM - 11.45AM
Early Pregnancy Unit Croydon Hospital (walk-in)

African Nurse (female)

We went in and filled in a form and waited to be called in. I was called in and was requested to do a urine sample.

Bathroom was dirty as usual.

Husband and I called in and sat down. Nurse did a pregnancy test which showed positive. Confirmed urine using a pipette (uncomfortable as she made me open the urine pot)

Calculated due date and how long I have been pregnant for.

Nurse said I cannot have a scan as I am still too early and wont show so a Transvaginal Scan was offered based on hormone level HCG being 2500. I was referred to the blood department to take a blood test to count HCG. Nurse in the blood department hurt me as usual during blood take.

The EPU nurse called Hamid Jaan and confirmed HCG levels were above 2500 and booked an scan for Monday 9.45am.

Nurse Maxine (female)

Asked for last period date (21 Sept 2014) calculated a due date to be 29th June 2015 and said the baby is just over 4 weeks.

Registered us under SGUL.
Reffered us to the Early Pregnancy Unit in Mayday after disclosing info about pain for 1 week in lower abdomen and light pink blood on tissue after wipe as a precaution.

Advised me not to bend over but to kneel down as can cause pressure in stomach and do not lift heavy stuff.

Maxine said I will have a blood test done during my visit to the EPU to check for Hormone levels, VITS, iron levels.

Told Hamid jaan to look after me (lol) and Hamid jaan was like 'Okay then...'

Dr Suleiman Yusuf (male)

General medical advise on pregnancy
Took a urine sample
Prescribed:

1. Colecalciferol 400unit/ Calcium carbonate
1.25g Chewable tablets
once daily
60 tabs

2. Folic acid 400microgram tablets
One to be taken each day
90 tabs

Advise:

Don't have certains foods like soft cheese, blue cheese, any food with bacteria, don't eat any food left over than one day (potential food poisoning),

Recommend we book an appointment with Nurse for pregnancy info.

He did a dip test and said there appears to be no bacteria in urine and said if we notice any burning, blood or pain to come in and the nurse will prescribe antibiotics, do not take antibiotics generously. No bacteria or blood was found in the urine dip that was done on this day. Previous day I took a Keflex because I felt burning and the need to pee. Dr Yusuf gave a urine pot to bring into the surgery the next morning to confirm pregnancy and any uti.
